tornak hut

It's tough to beat waking up in the mountains, eating a good breakfast, slipping into the ski boots, exploring until dark, finding new lines, day after day, all with your buds.

Pain train leaving the hut early. Who's off the back?

Skied Norton peak after a long approach. It's the high point of the big cirque on the far left.

Wood fired sauna's can be hot

Just another reason why Alex is the best splitboarder in the Wasatch and possibly the world.

Thanks guys, I am already planning next years hut adventure!

insane

Because Jared does such a fine job with trip reports he has been designated as group historian. Today was a solo mission so I am now forced to recount my own events.

First some foot notes from Saturday:
boarder on the bus

a ninja

a samurai

rockin the double hood

alexander basin and "cluster ridge I"

porter fork and "cluster ridge II"

Excited to get back up there in something other than a blizzard.

Today's solo tour saw nothing but fast skining and perfect skiing. Only had to break trail up to the west peak yet did not see another person.
Skied:
NW face of Mtn Aire
NE face of peak to the West
NE face of Mtn Aire
NE face of Peak to the East
NE Ridge into lambs
Had these 3 for company on the skin track!

the base mile experiment

"It's like when your going up a long climb on the rivet and the grade gets steeper and you know you should shift to the middle ring but instead you keep the power down and somehow get over the top in the big ring"

Lookout Peak

Quick after work ski on Lookout Peak. I was alone and able to move quick, I forget how fast the F1's roll!

Up the South face while it was soft and enjoyed recrystallized powder on a firm base on the North side all the way into the City Creek drainage.

Back up the North side through the trees and then East on the ridge
chasing the setting sun in hopes of skiing the South Face just before it crusted over. The top was soft but the bottom was survival skiing in breakable crust.

Is the set up to euro for exploring the Wasatch? Something about tights make me go faster.

3 sides of Kessler

The Kessler Trifeca as named by the Samurai was somewhat inspired by the our quick trip up and down Argenta on Wednesday, Alex surely will be disappointed to have missed the follow up. Jared provided such a nice write up I figured I would just share a few pictures, after all he is a wordy attorney.
